Description:

In her pose, the model is clearly melancholy, expressing a degree of sadness and is pensive as she muses over events, though not necessarily unhappy ones...?

To quote Shakespeare: "She never told her love, But let concealment, like a worm i' th' bud, Feed on her damask cheek. She pined in thought; And, with a green and yellow melancholy, She sat like Patience on a monument, Smiling at grief"

Both the model and the vibrant abstract background are painted entirely with a knife. A high level of contrast is provided and the colours made extremely rich, bold and lustrous, thus creating a very contemporary feel overall.

It's a very dramatic painting that would not look out of place in any location.

Obviously, the quality of the original, sensual, fine art nude figurative oil painting is much better than displayed here, though if you wish to make a closer inspection, please let me know of any specific area you're interested in and I'll e mail a higher resolution image to you.
